My name is Anna and you're listening to week 9, day 1 of your English 5 a day, the second season.
This is the series that is dedicated to expanding your vocabulary so
that you feel more confident when communicating in English.
Now today's episode will actually be discussed during a conversation class in the coming weeks.
So if you want to take part in that class and take your learning even further,
then look in the show notes for details of the conversation club.
But let's begin with a snapshot to find out what today's episode is going to cover.
Listen closely.
The government launched a reforestation project near a wildlife reserve to protect endangered species and maintain genetic diversity.
When a company tried to buy the land for development, activists fought tooth and nail to stop it.
In the end, the project moved forward and the company's proposal was as dead as a dodo.
Oh, there's some great phrases coming up today.
But let's begin with the noun wild life reserves.
Wild life reserves.
Two words, wild life, W-I-L-D-L-I-F-E reserves.
R-E-S-E-R-V-E-S reserves.
Wildlife reserves are protected areas where animals can live safely and they're shielded from human activities such as hunting,
deforestation and urban development.
So a wildlife reserve.
