Scammers are filing fake tax returns using real people's basic information to steal their refunds,
untangling the mess of verifying your identity and getting your refund back could take up to two years.
And it's a great quick hit for a scammer if they can make it work.
They get your personal information in your name, your date of birth, your social security number, your address.
They file an in your name at the beginning of tax season and ask for a refund and the IRS may send it to them.
We'll talk to Wall Street Journal reporter Laura Saunders about how you can protect your return.
