Hello, this episode of Newscast is a tale of two cities.
We're going to start off in Paris because Marine Le Pen,
the frontrunner to be the next president, has been barred from the contest by a French court.
And then we're going to head back to London because Chris has been interviewing Kier Starmer about a TV program,
which seems like a whole different order of magnitude, but it's still important nonetheless.
So that's the two tracks we're going to pursue on this episode of Newscast.
Hello,
it's Adam in the Newscast Studio and shortly we will chat to Chris Mason in Westminster
because he and the Prime Minister have been watching the big Netflix drama about the manosphere and violence amongst teenagers,
adolescents.
But first of all, we're going to go to Paris, a huge news story in French politics today.
Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally, Rassemblement Nationale,
and the frontrunner to be the winner of the next presidential election,
which is due in 2027, has been banned by a French judge from taking part in that contest.
She's also received a four-year suspended prison sentence,
which could see her wearing an electronic tag for a couple of years.
And this is all because she,
some of her party's members of the European Parliament and some assistants have been found guilty of embezzling European Union funds.
And part of the punishment is being barred from running for office.
So a huge story and it has been unfolding throughout the day.
