And one very subtle change has been the emergence of earbuds and headphones.
I prefer earbuds more because it's more handy and I can put it in my pocket.
Once dismissed as a relic of the 80s when the Sony Walkman was all the rage,
people in just about every city in the world have started wearing them.
I can never go out of my house without my phone.
I can forget my card and not come back but without the phones I go back and I can't live without it.
How and why did this happen?
What are people listening to?
And is it a good thing?
Or are there serious consequences from pumping our ears with music and speech 24x7?
It was my friend who said something one time that I was like, oh yeah weird that we wear headphones.
Then I started thinking about it but before that like, no I didn't care.
I was just enjoying my time with my headphones on.
Really.
