The movie debuted at the end of January in China's Mainland during the Spring Festival holiday and quickly shattered box office records at home and abroad.
Within three weeks, it has grossed nearly 13 billion yuan or 1.8 billion US dollars,
making it the world's best-selling animated movie in history.
It's also the only non-Hollywood movie to join the all-time Global Box Office Top 10.
So what has made this movie such a success?
And with its release in Western markets such as the US, Australia and New Zealand,
could this be a turning point for China's cultural appeal in the world?
