单集文稿 ...

  • Oh, my God.

  • This person's driving me crazy.

  • I'm Angela Duckworth.

  • I'm Steven Dubner, and you're listening to.

  • No stupid questions today on the show.

  • How valid is attachment theory?

  • Well, screw her if that's the kind of mother she is, here's the kind of kid I'm gonna be.

  • Angela, one.

  • William Kissick has written us an email.

  • He asks very directly if we could do an episode on a topic he's interested in, which is attachment theory.

  • Attachment theory.

  • Are you very attached to attachment theory?

  • I'm an attachment theory super fan.

  • William writes to say, I am 20 and have been doing work on my attachment style after years of being an avoidant.

  • So I have to say I found that sentence alone very compelling.

  • That he's 20 and he's been doing work on his attachment style when I am in my fifties, and I did not know I had an attachment style.

  • So kudos to William.

  • Let's see if we can figure out a little bit about Steven's attachment style in this conversation.

  • Well, I'm more interested in William's and yours and practically anyone else's than mine.

  • That sounds avoidant, Stephen.
