单集简介 ...

We revisit an episode about friendship with one of our most beloved Sugar guests — the writer Ann Patchett. In this episode, the Sugars take a question from a young woman whose best friend since childhood is about to get married to a man she's known for only six months. The two friends are very different, and the letter writer worries that her impulsive, drama-prone friend is rushing into another bad situation.

  • We have a letter, an awesome, interesting, complicated letter about best friends.

  • Right.

  • But who was your best friend growing up?

  • Well, I had different best friends throughout my childhood.

  • I moved around a bit.

  • And so, you know, I had my best friend in elementary school, actually, sort of elementary into middle school.

  • And then I went off to high school and I had, you know, a number of them different girls that I was close to at different times.

  • Did you ever settle on one that was kind of your big archetypal?

  • You know, I never was that kind of person.

  • Even to this day in my life, I've never been one to say, you are my best friend.

  • I have a wonderful circle of really great friends, and my girlfriends do tend to be like sisters to me, and they're so important to me.

  • What about you?

  • Well, I asked the question because I think there is a certain intensity.
