Welcome back to another episode of Dear Sugar Radio.
Hi, Steve.
How you doing?
Cheryl?
It is so good to be back in the same airspace with you.
I've been thinking about this strange episode as I was reading over the letters for this week, I've been thinking about this strange episode in my life where I went to see Kurt Vonnegut, my literary hero.
And he was very frail and old, and it was a very moving experience for me because I'd worshiped him all my life.
And it was very clear that he was at the end of his life.
And there was a question that when somebody said, kurt Vonnegut, what is your essential topic?
I mean, I think as writers, we sort of dream that somebody like Cheryl strayed, what's your essential type?
It's kind of intimidating, but it's also like, what do you have to say to the world?
What are you really writing about?
And I thought, well, it's Kurt Vonnegut.
