This is hidden brain.
I'm Shankar Vedantam.
It's a Friday evening at an apartment in lower Manhattan.
Two friends are looking forward to unwinding after a long week.
Their names are Ansel Scholl and Matthias Corona.
And they can teach us all something about friendship.
They've been friends for half their lives.
Like seven years.
No, because if it's second grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, six years.
Six years doing the math, that means they're now twelve.
And, like, ever since second grade, we've been close friends.
By fourth grade, I mean, I knew that this was gonna be my best friend.
Their best friendship has involved doing lots of homework together, video games.
We facetime.
We help each other.
He helps me, I help him.
We give each other advice.
Sleepovers, like the one they're going to have tonight.
And legos.
You have to push it, I think you have to push it.
