This is hidden brain.
I'm Shankar Vedanta.
We begin today's show in a snowy midwestern schoolyard.
Says who?
Says me.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah.
A group of boys is gathered around a flagpole.
One is daring the other to stick his tongue to the icy metal.
Are you kidding?
Stick my tongue to that stupid pole?
That's dumb.
That guy should know it'll stick.
You're full of it.
Yeah, yeah.
Like double dog dare ya.
If you've seen the film a Christmas story, you know where this is headed.
The double dog dare escalates to a triple dog dare, which ends, no surprise here, with a boy's tongue stuck to a flagpole.
Okay, that's just the movies.
Many of us like to think we'd never succumb to this sort of peer pressure.
