Adam’s joined by Marianna and John Burn-Murdoch, chief data reporter at the Financial Times. • BBC sounds music radio podcasts.

  • Hello.

  • It's not often we have an excuse to play a montage on newscast, but there were so many celebrities making surprise appearances at the democratic National Convention in Chicago last night that there was a whole montage's worth.

  • Are you ready?

  • Everybody clap your hands like this.

  • Everybody clap your hands.

  • Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.

  • People you see keep on laughing.

  • We have a word of God.

  • Let us choose.

  • Let us choose truth.

  • Let us choose honor.

  • And let us choose joy.

  • You get a vote.

  • You get a vote.

  • You get a vote.

  • Well, actually, very few of us get a vote unless you listen to this in America and you're registered.

  • Yeah, that was Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, and Stevie Wonder.

  • And just very interesting that Oprah said the word joy there, because having done Newsnight for a couple of nights this week, another plug.

  • When you speak to people from the Democratic National Convention, from the democratic side campaign, they keep using that word joy.
