Hello and welcome back to Food Neighborhoods on Monocle Radio,
where once again we're visiting the places locals love for their food and drink.
Today we're staying local and heading to London's charming South Kensington.
From quaint coffee shops, steaming bars of pho and vibrant farmers markets,
this corner of West London provides some of the city's best culinary offerings.
Here, Monocle's Hassan Anderson takes us on a tour.
Ask most Londoners what comes to mind when you say South Kensington,
and the answers will probably be something along the lines of museums or the Royal Abbott Hall.
While these are proud features of this vaguely defined slice of southwest London,
there is definitely more to the place than just dinosaurs and obscene opulence.
Although you are pretty much guaranteed to spot a lord or two in a vintage Rolls Royce
if you visit when it comes to food,
South Kensington is either known as a land of luxury
or a total tourist trap ruined by chain restaurants.
But there is another side to the place.
Just ignore the Lamborghini showroom next to the pret you see when you exit the station.
Just don't look.
Come this way.
If, like me, you can't manage more than a murmur in the morning without caffeine,
there are an array of very good coffee shops to kickstart your engine.
